Ricky comes from the age of when slip-cueing records and splicing audio tape were an every day part of the radio business. His first experience of hamming it up on a microphone came when he started adding play - by - play commentary as he was videotaping Garber High School's basketball games for the coaches and the school's local access cable channel. He quickly learned what words could be said and those you didn't use "on air".
Ricky got his first job in commercial radio working part-time weekend shifts at KNID way back in 1985 after attending Northern Oklahoma College in Tonkawa for a year where he hosted the daily "Wake up" show and was the college radio station's Music Director. After getting his Associate's degree in Mass Communicatios at Tonkawa and Bachelor's degree at Northwestern Oklahoma State University in Alva, he was promoted to full-time on-air status at Chisholm Trail Broadcasting in 1988.
Although being the Operations Manager and first person on call for severe weather coverage for four radio stations is a 24-7 job, Ricky is also a volunteer fire fighter and Emergency Medical Technician for the Breckinridge Fire Department, as well as Breckinridge's city water well operator ("I just love wearing a belt full of pagers").
