John Herrick joined Chisholm Trail Broadcasting as the News Director in October of 2011. He made his commercial broadcasting debut in a Speedway commercial in November of 2010 (just Youtube “Speedway Gas Station Offers Potential rewards to customers”). His first real job came as an Announcer with New Media Broadcasters in Havre, Montana in April of 2011. He also interned at both ESPN 1070 The Fan and WTHR-13 in Indianapolis.
John graduated with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Communication and Sociology from DePauw University in May of 2010. At DePauw, he worked at the campus radio station, 91.5 WGRE FM, all 4 years. He was the Sports Director his junior and senior year and Production Director his sophomore year. When John graduated, the Princeton Review ranked WGRE the #1 College Radio Station in the United States. John has been nationally recognized for his work as a sportscaster. Following the 2009 school year, the Sportscasters Talent Agency of America (STAA) ranked John the 16th Best Collegiate Sports Broadcaster in the country. Then in 2010, the STAA ranked him the 19th Best Collegiate Sports Broadcaster in the country. He was the only broadcaster not from a Division I school on the list both years. He is privileged to say he has called the only DePauw team national championship in school history when the DePauw women’s basketball team won the Division III title in 2007.
John is originally from Greenwood, Indiana and is a fan of the Indianapolis Colts, Indiana Pacers, and the Indiana Hoosiers.
